9. Greg Chappell – 87 Tests (7110, average 53.86)
Not a flashy player, Chappell batted solidly and scored runs at a fairly high rate. He notched up 24 centuries in his 14 years as a Test batsman – including in his first and last Tests. Was captain of the national side, following in the footsteps of his brother Ian, and won 21 of his 49 Tests as skipper, losing only 13. Despite losing at Old Trafford in 1977, this battling 112 from Chappell showed his grit and determination.
