8. David Boon – 107 Tests (7422, average 43.65)
Mainly a number three batsman, Boon made most of his runs by ensuring he stuck about at the crease and didn’t give his wicket away cheaply. First playing for Australia in 1984, he was instrumental in many Ashes’ victories, having the honour of hitting the winning runs for his side in 1989. He was named man-of-the-match for the 1987 World Cup final and also captained Durham in the County Championship during the late 90s.
