3. Steve Waugh – 168 Tests (10,927 runs, average 51.06)
First appeared for Australia as a 20-year-old, he was a fiery and raw player. He briefly lost his place to twin brother Mark in the early 90s, but found his feet as a batsman shortly after, scoring a series winning 200 against the West Indies in Jamaica. Waugh became captain in 1999, was named Australian player of the year in 2001 and eventually retired in 2004.
