4. The Immaculate Reception, by Franco Harris, 1972
If it isn’t the best catch in NFL history, it certainly is the craziest. This catch helped the Steelers win their first playoff game in franchise history and much like Dwight Clark’s “The Catch” was the play that sparked a dynasty that resulted in four Steeler Superbowls in 6 years.
With only seconds to go and the Steelers down 7-6 against the Raiders, Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw threw the ball right down the center of the field, only for it to be deflected by Raiders Safety Jack Tatum, but the ball landed right into the hands of RB Franco Harris, who took the ball all the way down the field for a TD with no time left on the clock, sealing the win for the Raiders.
