2. Santonio Holmes’ Superbowl XLIII toe-tapping TD catch, 2009
Superbowl XLIII is considered by many to be the most exciting Superbowl in NFL history. The Steelers were pursuing their NFL record 6th Superbowl title, while the Cardinals were playing in their first NFL title game since 1948. Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (remember him) had just given the Steelers the 23-20 lead, but the Steelers weren’t driving down for just a FG to tie, they wanted the whole thing.
And Santonio Holmes delivered, snatching the ball after it slipped through the hands of the Cardinals defender, securing it with both fully extended hands, and tapping his toe just perfectly inside the boundary lines for easily the most epic TD catch in Superbowl history, and possibly NFL history.
