9. Denis Lindsay – South Africa, 1130 runs, average 37.66:
The South African played his Test cricket throughout the 1960s, famously scoring 606 runs in seven innings against the Australians at an average of 86.57.
In the vein of a wicketkeeper batsman Lindsay was an attacking player, his preferred shot the hook as he regularly lofted the ball into the crowd for six.
Lindsay died in Johannesburg in 2005 aged 66.
