Shikhar Dhawan – India v Australia, 2013, 85 balls:
Impressive Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan came into the Test side after the axing of batting veteran Virender Sehwag. Yet with pressure on his shoulders, Dhawan followed the script and hit a powerful debut century off just 85 balls.
The 27-year-old went on to score 187 and helped put on an opening partnership of 289 runs with Murali Vijay. This outstanding first performance from Dhawan helped India win the match against Australia by six wickets and take an unassailable 3-0 series lead.
The opener also broke his left hand fielding in the Test and will now have to wait a little while longer to build on his outstanding start.
