2. Oklahoma City Thunder – Russell Westbrook
There may have only been three games played so far this season, and Westbrook may have only featured in his first on Sunday night, but his impact goes beyond the court.
The explosive point guard is integral to the Thunder’s hopes of an NBA championship, not only when considering his individual talent but what he does for the team, particularly Kevin Durant.
The dynamic duo are capable of dragging Oklahoma City to victories through their scoring alone, and with Westbrook back in action he helps to open up the floor for Durant, who scored 33 points in the win over the Phoenix Suns.
Highlight since his return: The reception he received when having his name called out at the Chesapeake Arena on Sunday night, and the performance that followed.
While the Thunder may still lack the required depth in their roster to win a title this year, they have more than enough fire-power to secure one of the best records in the Western Conference and a healthy Westbrook will be key moving forward.
Current Statistics (after one game): 21 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists.
