Rangers prevail over Leafs after shoot-out.
Earlier this week, New York Rangers coach John Tortorella revealed he was pleased with Mats Zuccarello’s overall performances, but said he needed to add goals to his game.
Having gone seven games without scoring for the Rangers, he may not have complied during regulation, but Zuccarello struck when it mattered most on Wednesday night.
The 25-year-old scored the lone goal in the shoot-out win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, after Phil Kessel scored two goals for the visitors to tie the scores at 2-2.
Tortorella will also have been pleased with Henrik Lundqvist, with the goal-tender making 23 saves through overtime before going on to stop all three Toronto shooters in the tiebreaker.
The Rangers move back into seventh place in the Eastern Conference with only eight games left in the regular season.
