Ujiri claims he “loves Brooklyn” but was trying to get fans going…
Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri was clearly ready for the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday as the NBA playoffs began with a bang.
During a rally before the game at the Air Canada Centre, Ujiri was speaking to a crowd gathered outside and proceeded to fire them up.
Brooklyn coach Jason Kidd was quizzed on the incident but claimed that he didn’t know who the Toronto GM was, while Ujiri later insisted that he loves Brooklyn but just wanted to get the fans going ahead of a huge game.
The atmosphere during the contest was intense as Toronto relish being back in the post-season, but ultimately they were unable to overcome the experience of the Nets.
However, they did show signs of being capable of competing and will hope to bounce back in Game 2 on Tuesday in order to level the series ahead of travelling to the Barclays Center.
Meanwhile, it is likely that Ujiri could be back in the headlines if he feels it necessary to help pump up the fans. Watch the video below but please note that there is strong language:
