Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas says he is pleased about Gareth Bale’s booking for diving in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League tie against Inter Milan.
Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale earned a yellow card for a dive against Inter Milan in the UEFA Europa League last night, and his manager Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that he is not displeased.
In fact, AVB would have asked Bale to try to get booked anyway, particularly once Spurs had gone 3-0 up.
“Probably with this result we would have asked him to get the yellow card to clean and to be ready for the last eight, said Villas-Boas.
“I think we’re in a good position, obviously it’s not finished, we’ll miss Gareth because he’s been influential in consecutive games. But hopefully we can make it without him and go through to the last eight.”
The Wales flyer will now miss the second leg of the tie in Milan at San Siro, but will have a clean slate for the rest of the competition – should Spurs progress.
