Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale missed a penalty against Bologna, who eventually held out for a 0-0 draw in Serie A.
Udinese and Bologna played out a stalemate in Serie A with neither side able to break the deadlock.
The home side were certainly the more ambitious side throughout the game, with 16 shots on goal in comparison to the seven of the visitors.
Bologna were scrappy throughout, and gave away plenty of unnecessary fouls with their aggressive play.
It was one of those fouls that afforded Udinese their biggest opportunity of the match.
When Saphir Sliti Taider fouled Roberto Pereyra in the box, Antonio Di Natale stepped up to strike the resultant spot kick, but the usually reliable Italy international saw his effort saved.
It was to be one of those days for Udinese, and they remain on course for a mere midtable finish.
