UFC fighter Al Iaquinta emerged victorious after a three-round bout with Jorge Masvidal thanks to a split decision by the judges, but was met with boos from the crowd, prompting Iaquinta to curse out the disgruntled audience.
Despite suffering a massive cut under his eye in the opening minutes of the match, Iaquinta remained feisty throughout the duration of the bout, going the distance with Masvidal and bringing it to a judge’s decision. When the scorecard came out: 30-27 for Masvidal, 29-28 for Iaquinta and a final 29-28 for Iaquinta, “Raging Al” was declared the winner – promptly earning the outrage of Masvidal and drawing boos from the crowd.
Masvidal threw up his arms in frustration and stormed out of the octagon. As Iaquinta received the microphone, he angrily responded to the continuously booing crowd, “Are you guys booing me?” shouted Iaquinta. “You better not boo me!”
Iaquinta then began a profanity-laced tirade and stormed out of the octagon. WARNING: Foul language.
Yahoo! Sports reported that after the match Iaquinta explained his frustration and loss of control:
“I got extremely frustrated when the crowd was booing me,” Iaquinta said. “I do this for them. I looked in the crowd and a guy was giving me the middle finger. It really got to me because I do this for the fans.”
With the victory, Iaquinta improved his MMA record to 12-3-1.
