Irish featherweight to miss extensive time because of surgery on torn ACL.
The UFC will be without one of its most popular new fighters for up to 10 months with new Conor McGregor will need surgery after his win at UFC Fight Night 26.
McGregor secured his second win in the UFC and again looked impressive in putting away Max Holloway with a unanimous points decision in spite of the injury.
The Irishman suffered a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament, a strain to his medial collateral ligament and a meniscal tear of his posterior horn.
Despite the injury McGregor took his career record to 14-2, and as a result there was talk he could be included on the upcoming card in Manchester set for October 26.
However, with the latest prognosis that dream is over in what would have been a huge boost for the card, with a large Irish contingent likely to be in attendance.
Hear from McGregor soon after his win in Boston last weekend.
