Dempsey goal enough for USA as snow threatened to cancel game in Denver.
A first half goal from Clint Dempsey was enought to give the USA a vital win in their World Cup qualifying campaign, as they beat Costa Rica 1-0 in Denver, Colorado.
The conditions were appalling, as the thick snow made playing any kind of fluid, passing football impossible.
Ten minutes into the second half, play was stopped as the officials discussed whether the conditions had become unplayable.
However, amid the pleas of both sets of players, the game was re-started, and the USA held on for the vital win.
Jurgen Klinsmann’s side travel to Mexico on Tuesday.
