Memphis end play-off hopes for the Jazz.
The Utah Jazz saw their play-off hopes go up in smoke on Wednesday night, following their 86-70 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies while the Los Angeles Lakers went on to win to seal their fate.
The Grizzlies set a franchise record with their 56 regular season wins, surpassing the previous mark of 50. Zach Randolph led the charge at the FedEx Forum as he scored 25 points as well as grabbing 19 rebounds for his 45th double-double of the season.
Al Jefferson posted up 22 points for Utah, but it wasn’t even nearly enough to snatch a crucial win, with the Lakers taking full advantage of their slip up later in the night.
It comes as a severely disappointing end to the season for the Jazz, who had looked on course for the play-offs for some time until letting their commanding lead slip.
Memphis will open the post season with an opening round play-off series against the Los Angeles Clippers, which begins on Saturday.
