OKC secure first win over Wizards in two seasons.
A strong defensive effort helped the Oklahoma City Thunder seal a 103-80 win over the Washington Wizards at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Wednesday night.
Point guard Russell Westbrook led the scoring with 21 points on 5-for-8 shooting, while the other half of the dynamic duo was equally as important.
Kevin Durant added 20 points, although he struggled from the floor going 4-for-10. Fortunately for coach Scott Brooks Kevin Martin provided a spark off the bench with 18 points that included 3-for-4 on three pointers.
In contrast, the Wizards were unable to rely on their bench presence considering they were missing seven players through injury. Fresh from his career-high 47 points on Monday night, there were no repeat heroics from John Wall who could only contribute 18.
He will hope to fare better when Washington take on the Orlando Magic on Friday, while the Thunder head to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves.
