Garnett and Pierce return in Celtics win over Wizards.
The Boston Celtics sealed their 40th win of the season on Sunday, with a 107-96 win over the Washington Wizards at the TD Garden.
Both Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett returned to the court for coach Doc Rivers, with the latter finishing the game with 12 points and six rebounds while Pierce had 15 points and five assists.
However, it was Brandon Bass who finished with a game-high 20 points, while John Wall led the visitors with a double-double, posting up 16 points and 10 assists.
The game was won in the third quarter by the Celtics, after a closely-fought first half they opened up a gap with a 31-19 showing, shooting 75% from the field.
The eight teams participating in the Eastern play-offs have now been decided, but the Celtics will be hoping to improve on their current seventh place standing.
Washington are in New York to face the Knicks on Tuesday, while Boston host the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.
