Fittingly the all-Brazilian main event is decided on the ground.
Fabricio Werdum beat legendary jiu-jitsu ace Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at his own game and ended a night of submissions in fitting fashion.
The Brazilian heavyweights, who also recently served as head coaches on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2, met in the FUEL TV-televised headliner of Saturday’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 event at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil.
Werdum (17-5-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) largely controlled the action and overcame some first-round fatigue before getting the fight to the ground, where he eventually caught Nogueira (34-8-1 MMA, 5-4 UFC) in the second round with an armbar.
It avenged a 2006 defeat to ‘Big Nog’ that came in the PRIDE organisation.
