Arsenal salvaged a point against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League to bring to an end their impressive 10 successive wins in all competitions.
The Gunners started the stronger in the match and it looked as if it would be another victory for the north London side, but it was Claudio Yacob who gave the hosts the lead just before half-time.
It was the Argentine’s first goal for the Baggies, with the defensive midfielder brought in to stop the opposition scoring, but it wouldn’t have been obvious as Yacob expertly converted a Morgan Amalfitano cross.
The home team didn’t let up before the break as Stephane Sessegnon guided an onslaught from the hosts, before the referee blew for half-time.
In the second half former Gunners star Nicolas Anelka had two good chances to score against the Frenchman’s former side but wasted both opportunities.
The first came from a cross from the promising Saido Berahino which got caught up under the striker’s feet.
The end-to-end action then went back up the other end as Olivier Giroud latched onto a superb ball from Jack Wilshere and rounded goalkeeper Boaz Myhill, only for the stopper to recover well and get a hand to the resulting shot.
It was Wilshere that levelled things shortly after, with a 20-yard shot from the midfielder taking a deflection and sneaking in past Myhill.
As the game drew to a close both sides chased the win, as Tomas Rosicky was brought on for the visitors and West Brom replaced Sessegnon with James Morrision.
An exciting game was brought to an end after 94 minutes and a point each was probably a fair result.
