Honduran to make Upton Park switch.
Wigan left-back Maynor Figueroa is set to join West Ham on a free transfer at the end of the season after the Latics decided against renewing his contract, reports the Daily Mail.
The Hammers are in urgent need of reinforcements at left-back and the Honduran will become the second player in as many seasons to swap the DW Stadium for Upton Park, after Mohamed Diame’s free transfer last summer.
Figueroa, 29, joined Wigan in 2008 from Honduran outfit Olimpia and has made over 130 league appearances for Roberto Martinez’s side, scoring three times.
The defender is best remembered for this stunning free-kick from inside his own half against Stoke City in the 2009/10 season.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce turned his attention to Figueroa after seeing two bids rejected for Blackburn Rovers left back Martin Olsson last month.
Rovers were believed to be holding out for £5m for the player, with Allardyce only prepared to pay up to £3.5m.
