Wladimir Klitschko will defend his heavyweight titles against unbeaten American Bryant Jennings on April 25 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Klitschko (63-3-0, 54 KOs) currently holds the IBF, WBA, WBO, IBO and the ‘Ring Magazine’ world titles and is undefeated over the last 10 years. However, it is just the fourth time that he has fought at the Garden and the first time since 2008 that he has fought in the US.
Nevertheless, he showed great respect to his challenger and he insisted that he will relish the experience and is focused on retaining his belts in impressive fashion as he looks to prolong his reign at the top of the heavyweight division for a lot longer.
“I do have great respect for Bryant Jennings and his achievements. He has good movement in the ring and good technique. I know this will be a tough challenge,” the 38-year-old told the media.
“I am extremely happy to fight in New York City again. I had my first unification fight there and a lot of great heavyweight matches have taken place at Madison Square Garden. It will definitely be a great fight night and I will do everything for it from my side.”
Jennings (19-0, 10 KOs) has been a professional for just five years but he has been impressive throughout and has earned his shot at Klitschko. The Philadelphia native insisted that “this is the moment that I’ve been waiting for” and he is adamant that he can bring all the titles back to America.
