PSG leading Marseille thanks in part to lead frontman Ibra.
The derby between PSG and Marseille was always going to be a tight affair and both teams needed their big game playmakers to step up and deliver.
It wasn’t Joey Barton or David Beckham that has done that, it has been prolific striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic that has taken the game to Marseille by scoring a brace, and no doubt helping PSG to the win.
After a cagey first 30 minutes, the Swede stepped up with a cool finish under pressure to give the Paris side the lead.
After the break, Marseille looked to threaten the PSG goal in the second half, but every effort was calmly dealt with by the organised PSG defence. With ten minutes remaining, PSG were rightfully awarded a penalty, which Zlatan took himself to double the scoreline.
The goal is also a statement to the long term rivals, as Paris continue to show their dominance in French football and this statement will go a long way to proving that.
