Robin van Persie (v Everton, 10 December 2011)
It was Arsenal’s 125th anniversary match but, with over an hour played, the encounter was in danger of petering out into a frustrating stalemate, as resolute Everton defended stoutly.
Cue Van Persie; the forward had already netted 32 goals in the calendar year and was just four short of equalling Alan Shearer’s record. The Dutchman met Alex Song’s pass first time with a measured yet stinging volley that fizzed into the bottom corner off the far post. A goal worthy of winning any match.
