Thierry Henry (v Manchester United, 1 October 2000)
England’s two best teams had played out a dismal half hour before Henry’s bolt out of the blue.
There seemed little danger when the Frenchman received the ball with his back to goal on the edge of the penalty box but the forward produced a moment of inspiration, chipping up the ball and volley into the top corner, leaving international teammate Fabien Barthez utterly stranded.
Arsenal went on to win the game 1-0, condemning United to their first defeat in 22 league games, but United had the last laugh, claiming the title.
