San Marino 0 Germany 13 (World Cup qualifier, 6th September 2008)
Three years earlier, Germany travelled to the tiny nation of San Marino eager for a high scoring game as they were looking to close the goal difference gap between them and Czech Republic at the top of the Group D qualification table. They certainly didn’t disappoint, running rampant with six goals in the first half alone and now-Gunners striker Lukas Podolski bagging four in the 90 minutes.
The result unsurprisingly broke the championship record for the most goals by a team in one game, although Germany went on to miss out on topping the group following a shock goalless draw at home to Ireland in the final game.
