Croatia and Bayern Munich star Mario Mandzukic is set to snub the Premier League in favour for a move within the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic, reportedly a key transfer target for Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea, is set to turn down the Premier League in favour of a move to former club Vfl Wolfsburg according to reports from German newspaper Die Welt.
The powerful 28 year-old centre forward starred for Croatia with a brace against Cameroon at the World Cup this week, a performance that is sure to have had fans of the London duo salivating at the prospect of the Bayern Munich man pulling on their colours next season.
It seems as thought they are set to miss out, however, as Wolfsburg look to secure another eye-catching signing after the captures of Brazilian holding midfielder Luiz Gustavo and Belgian playmaker Kevin de Bruyne in the last twelve months.
Mandzukic had been reported to be admired by Arsene Wenger, who is looking for alternatives to a mooted deal to bring AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli back to the Premier League, whilst Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is revamping his entire strike force at Stamford Bridge.
Mandzukic announced that he would be leaving the Allianz Arena this month due to feeling that he didn’t fit in with the tactical philosophy of manager Pep Guardiola, who left him out of the German cup final against Borussia Dortmund in May.
