Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta will have to wait a bit longer to see the pitch again. What will the team look like without him and Sanchez?
It’s been about eight months since Mikel Arteta was featured in a match and the Arsenal captain may have to wait longer to make his return.
According to the Metro, Arteta is considered doubtful for Arsenal’s pre-season tour due to a calf injury. The 33-year-old Spanish midfielder has been out of action since November but was expected to return for the Gunners’ tour in Singapore. The Metro reported that the calf injury is different from the one that sidelined him back in 2014.
Though he was present and practiced prior to Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Singha All Stars this past week, Arteta did not participate in the match.
A star with Everton from 2004 to 2011, Arteta joined Arsenal in 2011 on a £10 million deal and recorded 14 goals in his first three seasons, earning captain honors in August 2014.
