2) Injuries
With just 21 appearances in the last two seasons, there’s no disputing we’re looking at a seriously injury-prone player here, one who would surely not be worth the gamble for Liverpool. Walcott may only be 26, but as he notably started playing regularly as a 16-year-old at Southampton, before being an Arsenal first-teamer at 17, he is already at the point where his body may be in decline. Given his recent record with fitness, it’s easy to see him going the Michael Owen route and enduring a difficult end to his career in terms of actually getting on the pitch – the curse of starting too young.
