Beale and White will make way for Waratahs pair Bernard Foley and Nick Phipps for Saturday’s clash with South Africa.
Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie has dropped Kurtley Beale and Nic White following Australia’s heavy 51-20 defeat to the All Blacks, with Super Rugby-winning halves Bernard Foley and Nick Phipps named in the squad to take on South Africa at Patersons Stadium on Saturday.
Adam Ashley-Cooper has been shifted to the wing to cover for the retired Pat McCabe, while Tevita Kuridrani receives a call up to play outside centre for the clash in Perth.
McKenzie’s decision hands Foley and Phipps their first starting game side-by-side since they led the Waratahs to the Super Rugby title last month.
“They’ve got a proven combination at a Super Rugby level and we look forward to seeing how that translates into the Test environment,” he said.
“It’s naturally disappointing for the two guys who missed out on the starting team in Nic and Kurtley, but the reality is we have a lot of good players in those playmaking positions.
“We expect them to respond in a positive manner and to make an impact playing an important role in how we close out the match.”
The Wallabies currently sit in last place on the Rugby Championship table after two games, while South Africa are on top in the four nation tournament.
