Wallabies star Israel Folau says he won’t be following Jarryd Hayne to the NFL, but says South Sydney Rabbitohs full-back Greg Inglis could forge a career in the sport.
Folau – who has played NRL, AFL and rugby union – was asked which Australian sportsman he believed could make a successful switch to American football.
“Greg Inglis is probably the first name that pops up,” Folau is quoted as saying by AAP.
“He’s pretty talented. I think he’d do quite well.”
Folau believes if Hayne is successful in landing an NFL deal, it could open the floodgates for more Australians to give it a crack.
“There’s a lot of talented players in all different codes in Australia and if Jarryd makes a good move I think it’ll definitely open up other guys to maybe going over,” he added.
