The pair played together at the Sydney Football Stadium during the 2007/08 season.
Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Tony Popovic is close to signing for Sydney FC team-mate Brendon Santalab, the Daily Telegraph understand.
The 31-year-old spent two years at the Sydney Football Stadium and played alongside his possible future manager during the 2007/08 season and the pair look set to be reunited after it was revealed Santalab is currently in talks over a move.
Having released strikers Dino Kresinger and Joey Gibbs at the end of last season it’s thought Popovic has been scouring Europe for a new front-man but has elected to bring in a more familiar face instead.
For the past four seasons Santalab has made a name for himself in the Chinese Super League after turning out for Chengdu Blades and Chongqing Lifan, where he made a combined total of 75 appearances and scored an impressive 33 goals.
But now is appears he is set to return to Australia to link up with Popovic at the Wanderers for the 2013/14 campaign and form a new-look attack at the Parramatta Stadium alongside newly capped Socceroo Tomi Juric.
And after returning to his home country the Wollongong-born forward will be hoping he fares better than he did at his last domestic club, Queensland Fury, where he was released without kicking a ball before moving to China.
