John Obi Mikel has reportedly told Chelsea that he would like to leave this summer, but the Premier League champions have other ideas.
Mikel apparently wants to secure a lucrative transfer to Al Ain, for whom Asamoah Gyan plays, and the former Sunderland striker has claimed that Mikel has agreed to join him in the United Arab Emirates.
Gyan is quoted by the London Evening Standard as saying: “I heard it this week that he has agreed terms with Al Ain and will most definitely be playing for us next season.

“It’s great news for us because Mikel is a very good player and very experienced. It will be exciting playing with him in the same team, because I believe both of us, with the help of our other colleagues, can do more for the club.”
But Sky Sports understands that Chelsea are not willing to allow the 28-year-old, who has one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, to quit, at least until a replacement is signed.
The holding midfielder has won 10 major trophies, including the Champions League and Europa League, since joining the Blues in 2006, but has fallen down the pecking order and made only six Premier League starts last term.
