Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has not left the club as expected yet, but he has not played a single minute for the Red Devils in the 2015-16 season.
That will continue to be the case for the time being, as he will again watch from the sidelines when United face Aston Villa on Friday.
It has been revealed that the 24-year-old was yet again not keen to take to the field after he missed United’s opening day win over Tottenham last Saturday.
“We’ve talked with him, he was fully agreed with our decision,” van Gaal said, according to the Daily Star.
“We have a goalkeeping coach, Frans Hoek, I’m not doing everything alone. Frans Hoek he has a meeting with David de Gea and he asks him ‘Do you want to play?”
Van Gaal made a somewhat shocking decision to not put the Spanish international in between the sticks against Tottenham, but the Dutch boss feels that De Gea is not in the right mindset.
Man United validated van Gaal’s choice though, as they came away with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham with new signing Sergio Romero performing admirably.
De Gea may end up staying with Man United for the final year of his contract, as Real Madrid are not willing to offer £35m to which the Red Devils value the player at.
However, the Man United boss is reportedly willing to keep de Gea off the Red Devils squad until at least mid-September.
