The Argentina defender had made a name for himself at Old Trafford but after the signing of left-back Patrice Evra, Heinze became disgruntled in Manchester.

The South American tried to force through a transfer to Liverpool and although Ferguson refused, it spelled the end of Heinze’s time at the club and the Argentina international has since rued his actions.
