Washington is reportedly bringing in top QB prospect Marcus Mariota in over a workout at their headquarters in Ashburn, Virginia to see if he’s worthy of the No. 5 overall pick.
NFL insider Albert Breer reported that Washington as well as the San Diego Chargers are scheduling interviews and workouts with Mariota in the coming weeks.
… The Chargers are set to work out Marcus Mariota on April 15. And I’m told the Redskins are setting up a visit for Mariota in Ashburn.

One of the most intriguing prospects in the 2015 NFL draft, analysts have the reigning Heisman Trophy winning QB being drafted anywhere between the No. 1 overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to No. 6 with the New York Jets to middle or bottom of the first round to a team like the Cleveland Browns or Philadelphia Eagles.
As the starting QB at Oregon in 2014, Mariota led the NCAA in passer rating and total offense as he led the Ducks to a PAC-12 title and then a Rose Bowl victory over the defending National Champion Florida State Seminoles and former Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston. For his efforts, Mariota won the 2015 Heisman Trophy, beating out Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon and Alabama WR Amari Cooper and getting 2,534 points – 3rd most in Heisman Trophy history. The Ducks would go on to lose in the National Championship Game to Ohio State.
Jameis Winston is expected by most to be the No. 1 overall pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Mariota is considered the consensus No. 2 QB prospect in the entire draft.
