He will have a golden opportunity to start for the Washington Redskins after signing a two-year, $4 million contract with them.
Johnson made one start for the Seahawks in 2014, and he was a key special teams contributor for them.
Since Brandon Meriweather has been released and Ryan Clark has retired, Johnson has a great chance to take over as a starter after backing up Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor.
The Redskins are in need of defensive improvement, and Johnson’s tutelage under Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll should come in handy as he transitions to the Redskins.
NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport revealed Johnson’s new team and contract on Twitter.
The #Redskins are signing safety & ST Jeron Johnson to a 2-year deal worth $4M, source said. He visited this weekend.
