Rooney thinks for Belgian wonderkid will become a world-class attacker…
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has lavished praise on his young teammate Adnan Januzaj, following the teenager’s brilliant performance at the weekend, reports the Daily Mail.
The 18-year-old Belgian flyer bagged two goals for United against Sunderland, including a beautiful second, helping David Moyes’ side complete their second half comeback.
“He’s very confident,” said Wayne Rooney, the 27-year-old England forward.
“A lot of the young players who come through are a little bit timid and shy, but he looks comfortable and he’s confident in his own ability, which you need to be.”
“He takes the ball, he runs at players and he’s got great ability. I think it’s great the manager has thrown him into the side, especially with what has happened in the last few games.”
Januzaj’s emergence has been a shining light in what’s been a poor start to the season for the reigning Premier League champions. They have already lost three league matches, to Liverpool, Manchester City and West Brom, and many are questioning whether David Moyes has the top level experience to replace Sir Alex Ferguson.
In Januzaj however, Moyes has a young attacker who could eventually be nurtured into a world-class player.
