Manchester United striker and legend Wayne Rooney recently made history by scoring his 50th international goal for England to break the all-time record.
Sir Bobby Charlton previously held the record with 49. However, Rooney’s celebration will be short-lived as his status for Sunday’s match against Liverpool is uncertain.
According to The Telegraph, Rooney will undergo a late fitness test on Saturday. 19-year-old striker and new signing Anthony Martial may be thrust into action sooner than expected.
He is the only active striker remaining on the Red Devils’ roster, as James Wilson was shipped out to Derby County on a loan deal.
Man United are looking to recover from their first loss of the season, which they suffered against Swansea City after a scoreless draw against Newcastle United.
After a relatively fast start, Man United have slowed down while falling to fifth place. However, they may be getting just the spark they need moving forward.
Goalkeeper David de Gea has taken back the no.1 job after signing a new four-year deal, relegating Sergio Romero to the bench.
