3. Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
The Crimson Tide locked up their trip to the SEC championship game after they capitalized on a Mississippi State loss by beating Auburn, 55-44. Cooper showed up for the occasion with his best performance of the season. The star wide receiver caught 13 passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns.
If Alabama can win another SEC title and hold onto their No. 1 ranking, Cooper may have a strong case for winning the Heisman. He already does after torching Auburn’s defense and being the best offensive player on Alabama throughout the entire season. Eclipsing 100 receptions and having his signature game in the most important match of the season should lock up Cooper’s status as a Heisman finalist.
Stats: 103 receptions, 1,573 receiving yards, 14 touchdowns
