4. Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
Wisconsin was on a bye in Week 8, but Gordon remains a viable Heisman candidate as he is arguably the best running back in the country. Gordon has been the centerpiece of the Badgers offense, and they hold a 4-2 record. Although the Badgers have work to do to climb back into the top 25, they are still a respectable team.
As long as the Badgers have a winning record, Gordon will get plenty of Heisman votes. However, the Badgers’ inability to become a top contender will ultimately cost the running back the votes he will need to win the award.
Stats: 132 carries, 1,046 rushing yards, 13 touchdowns; 6 receptions, 27 receiving yards, 1 touchdown
