Flamini will sit out the match with the Germans.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that midfielder Mathieu Flamini will miss the Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday through injury.
Flamini suffered concussion during the Gunners 4-1 win over Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday and had to be substituted.
Ahead of the match with Dortmund Wenger has now revealed that the Frenchman will definitely miss the clash at the Emirates Stadium, but should be back for game at Crystal Palace at the weekend.
“”here is a five-days [concussion] rule that we will respect, not to take any chance. It was a concussion and the doctor advised us not to play him. He will be okay for the weekend,” Wenger told Sky Sports.
Flamini joins Theo Walcott on the injury list, with the forward being sidelined for a further two weeks after suffering a setback from the 24-year-old’s abdominal surgery.
However, with the north London team in such great form of late they may not miss their midfield duo too much.
Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil have been the standout performers in the middle of the park, although Jack Wilshere also seems to be hitting some fine form of late.
That being said, Flamini has been a great addition to Wenger’s side since the 29-year-old was bought back from AC Milan on a free transfer over the summer.
The midfielder spent four years in Italy, but decided to return to the Emirates and the decision by the manager has been heralded as some very shrewd business.
Wenger’s men top both the Premier League and their Champions League group having won all but two of their games in all competitions during the 2013/14 campaign so far.
