The Gunners boss has identified Sanchez as a transfer target.
Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez has emerged as a £20m transfer target for Arsenal as Arsene Wenger looks to improve his side’s attack, according to the Mirror.
The Gunners manager has been tipped off that the Chile international is preparing to leave the Nou Camp this summer and the Frenchman is looking to beat Italian champions Juventus to the attacker’s signature.
Sanchez has grown frustrated at Barca after joining the club from Udinese nearly three years ago, but failing to establish a regular place in the starting XI since then.
This season has been an improvement for the 25-year-old with 20 goals and 17 assists in 52 appearances for the club in all competitions.
However, Sanchez is still ready to move on and a switch to the Premier League would be an attractive prospect for the South American.
Wenger would like the Chilean at the Emirates Stadium as well, because he fits into the north Londoners’ style and ambition to play attacking football.
Signing Sanchez also wouldn’t break the bank either and that appeals to the 64-year-old’s frugal nature, with the £42.5m recruitment of Mesut Ozil last summer the only expensive splurge of the Frenchman’s 18 year career at the club.
The side also need help in attack, with Wenger admitting too much pressure has been put on striker Olivier Giroud this term.
Beyond the France international the only options upfront currently are the inexperienced Yaya Sanogo and the out of form Nicklas Bendtner.
