HT: Manchester United 1-1 Leicester City
Wes Morgan’s second Premier League goal in four weeks – his fourth ever – pegged back Manchester United this afternoon.
Leicester City, who will be champions of England today for the first time in their history if they win at Old Trafford, fell behind after just eight minutes when Anthony Martial fired home from an Antonio Valencia cross.
United were good value for their lead, and the dominant Red Devils almost doubled their advantage moments later, but a brilliant one-hand save from Kasper Schmeichel to deny Jesse Lingard.
Then came the sucker punch.
With their first meaningful attack, came Leicester’s equaliser. Former United youngster Danny Drinkwater floated in a free kick from deep. It found the head of his captain, who deftly nodded past David de Gea.
Leicester’s leveller seemed to change the pattern of the game, as the Foxes fought back.
PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez was denied what looked like a blatant penalty when he went down under a challenge from Marcos Rojo, before another headed chance fell to Morgan, who sent a poor effort high over the crossbar.
