Ivorian could be on the verge of an immediate return to the Premier League.
West Bromwich Albion have been told that they will have to pay £3 million if they wish to sign Lille forward Salomon Kalou this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The experienced Ivory Coast international has only been with the Ligue 1 outfit for the past season now, having originally moved to northern France from Premier League giants Chelsea on a free contract last July.
And in his first campaign in Ligue 1 the 27-year-old registered a highly impressive 16 goals and six assists in just 37 matches in all competitions, including 14 goals and five assists in his 28 league contests for the club, form in front of goal that has persuaded West Brom head coach Steve Clarke to make a move for the Ivorian now that the transfer window has finally reopened for business once again.
However, the Bggies will first have to meet the full value of Kalou’s Lille contract, valued at £3m, if they are to bring the player back to the Premier League next season.
