Crystal Palace continued their remarkable run of form with victory against West Ham United at Upton Park.
After having two legitimate penalty appeals turned down, it was third time lucky for the Eagles, who were finally awarded a spot kick when Pablo Armero brought down Cameron Jerome.
Mile Jedinak converted the penalty, with Andy Carroll left to rue missing a headed opportunity.
Despite Sam Allardyce bringing on both Carlton Cole and Antonio Nocerino to provide a direct threat alongside Carroll up front, he took off wingers Stuart Downing and Matt Jarvis to do so – meaning the forwards were starved of service.
Tony Pulis has now masterminded five straight wins for Crystal Palace in the Premier League – a club record – and after looking doomed for relegation with Ian Holloway in charge, a top half finish does not seem beyond the realms of possibility.
