West Ham United begin the 2013-14 Premier League season with fixtures against Cardiff City, Newcastle United and Stoke City – all eminently winnable games for Sam Allardyce’s outfit.
The Hammers’ first real tests come in October, with games against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, before a hugely tricky December that will take in matches against Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
West Ham will be wary of a tricky run in – the team face Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal again in a short spell between late March and early April, and finish the season with ties against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
Chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan will hope that they already have enough points on the board before that, but there are reasons to be optimistic around the Boleyn Ground.
Sam Allardyce has built a team which is immensely tricky to beat, but that also plays better football than they are given credit for, and West Ham will be hopeful of building on last season’s 10th place finish.
