Having struggled to establish himself under David Moyes last season the Mexico international decided to leave Old Trafford last summer and was snapped up on a temporary deal by Madrid.
However, things have been just as frustrating for the man known as ‘Chicharito’ since arriving in Spain, due to the prominence of Karim Benzema in his preferred No.9 role.
Therefore Hernandez is likely to return to United at the end of this term and with only 18 months remaining on his current Red Devils contract, Louis van Gaal will be keen to cash-in on the 26-year-old while he still can.
The Hammers have shown interest in the Mexican – who has proven Premier League scoring capabilities – and the fact he would be available for a relatively low price makes the deal even more appealing to Sam Allardyce.
