The Ecuadorian also mentioned that the reports have inspired him to improve even further. He only moved to the Premier League in the summer after impressing at the World Cup. Although the 25-year-old only has three goals for the Hammers so far, he has looked lively and dangerous when played.
“I found out about it from the social networks and from what my team-mates were saying,” he told the Daily Mail.
“Nobody said anything definite to me. But if a team like Chelsea is interested in me, it’s a big compliment. It makes me want to keep on getting better,” he added.
Manager Sam Allardyce will not be happy with this news as he looks to hold on to one of the players who have helped the East London side to challenge for the European places this season.
