Enner Valenica impressed a host of Premier League clubs with his performances for Ecuador at this summer’s World Cup…
West Ham United are leading Tottenham in the race for Ecuador striker Enner Valencia, according to reports in the Metro.
Everton, Newcastle United, Stoke City and Porto have also expressed an interest in the 24-year-old, who has scored seven times in 13 appearances for his national team.
Valencia, who currently plays for Mexican side Pachuca, has scored 18 goals in his first 23 game for the club, who he joined from his native Emelec earlier this year.
Having grabbed a goal in a 2-2 draw with England earlier this summer, he also netted three goals at this summer’s World Cup – getting the opening goal in his country’s 2-1 defeat by Switzerland and scoring both his team’s goals in a 2-1 win against Honduras.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has been extremely busy so far this summer, signing midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate from Anderlecht, former Birmingham City striker Mauro Zarate from Argentine side Velez Sarsfield, Ipswich Town left-back Aaron Cresswell and Charlton Athletic winger Diego Poyet.
United have also reportedly made a £9.5m bid for former Liverpool target Yehven Konoplyanka, who came extremely close to joining the Anfield club in January. The Ukrainian international has a £12m buyout clause in his contract.
West Ham finished 13th in the Premier League last season, but fans were left disappointed with their sides style of play, and have demanded change this summer.
